Was reading a post made by Zym in reply to one of my entries. It mentions using Google as a reference for a good source of documentation. He also mentions the idea of developing a wiki. There has been talk of developing a wiki focused on GeoMedia suite. I envision it to be a centralized place where users can find examples, documentation, and pointers for more ideas. Additionally, I envision it being a collaborative effort with some content coming from Intergraph but also quite a bit of content coming from the users.
As I’m sure you all know, the real power of a wiki is the ability for many people to collaborate. So, with that said, I’d like your feedback.
- Would you find it useful?
- Would you help edit it?
- Would you add your own content (e.g. examples, workflows, ideas, etc).
- Would the requirement that you had to login turn you off from editing/adding content?
Please provide your feedback as I could really see this happening…if there’s enough interest.
Thoughts?

This would be a very good idea, when I first started working on intergraph Products it wsa very diffcuilt to find proper examples, workflows,…etc, I used to visit myGeoMedia.com but it is not active anymore also some times I feel http://synergy.intergraph.com/ is not active also and it need to have login

4. Login only to add content, no login should be required to read the forum. Login using http://openid.net/ or something else would be nice.

++ for a community driven Wiki on GeoMedia. Login to Add:edit content. GeoMedia, GeoMedia GRID, GeoMedia Webmap, GeoMedia… Enough to start with. Anyone for G/Technology?

Intergraph has invited me to go to Intergraph 2008. However not sure I’m going to attend. My training budget went to the GITA 2008 conference. So…trying to get additional funding from my company for airfare and per diem. If I receive the additional funding, I’ll go. If not, I’ll probably hold off until next year.

I have set-up my own wiki using mediawiki if you need any help please let me know. It is fairly simple to get going and mediawiki is all open source.

Days ago i had a conversation about the lack of documentation about Geomedia. The other person even compared Intergraph to a secret society compared to other companies.

Great idea! I’m pretty new to your blog, but I’d actually think something like this would be great for users. I’ve had to work on developing a training web portal (sorry, internal only) for our production group on all things GMP. But there is still just so much that you can’t cover because it comes up only during specific steps of use.
A wiki would allow our users to connect with other users in a combined knowledge base… hmmm…. I’m interested in this as well, let me know if you’d like some help, I may even get a little support from my boss to work on this…

I just got a quick peek at WebMap 6.1 and there is absolutely zero sample code for all the new features (at least I havnt found it yet). The help file says all the smaple code is on the INGR knowledge base… did a search and found nothing… not one article about the new features.
From the limited docs it looks like they made many very valuable improvements but it will be up to the user community to figure out how to use them. Let’s help each other.
